First off, let me tell you how magical Lake Cushman is. It looks completely different every time I adventure there making it the perfect location for any photo shoot, especially engagement and anniversary shoots! Lake Cushman is in the Olympic National Park, about an hour away from the capital. The water was a little lower this time around, exposing the PNW’s “staple” tree trunks. I had never seen anything like this before I moved here and I can tell you, it never gets old. As we drove up, snow was piled on the sides of the roads and I could have sworn the whole lake would be pretty icy. As we braved the treacherous pot holes to find a great location, to our surprise, the snow was mostly melted on the banks. The sky still held that wintery feel and it was one of those bitter cold drizzly days and I’m so happy that these two were up for anything and just went with it!
My brother, Brandon and his wife Hannah, have never been to Washington before and I was SO ecstatic when they decided to come over the winter. We took them to Pike’s Place Market, Snoqualmie, Alpental but chose Lake Cushman for their Anniversary Photos because we wanted something that felt iconically PNW like. I think we accomplished just that. Bub and Hannah eloped in Vegas last January and while we all we’re so ecstatic to welcome Hannah into the family, I will still dieing for some awesome pictures of the two of them. This doesn’t always come easy with my brother (sorry Bub but it’s true) but I think we managed to capture some pretty sweet ones of the two of them.
First time someone’s done pushups at a shoot to stay warm. Doesn’t surprise me coming from my brother. 😛
Welcome to the blog! I’m a small-town Florida girl and Army wife relocated to the Seattle Suburbs, documenting love from one coast to the other. I live for a good PNW mountain breeze, sweat pants, and local eats. Let's be friends!
