My evenings of late have been filled with rock climbing. The new Cirque gym in Lacey opened right by our house and we’ve been taking advantage 3-4 days a week. I am completely obsessed and love that it’s given my husband and I a convenient yet challenging hobby to do together.
We decided to test out our improved climbing skills in Central Washington at Vantage. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into. It’s hard to find photos of this amazing place online. As we drove up, my jaw dropped having no idea the beauty we would be surrounded with all weekend. There are so many similarities to Vantage that I found from our time in Sedona and the Grand Canyon area. I had no idea this type of beauty existed in Washington. I knew there was desert past the mountain, but I couldn’t imagine there was more than just that. Fresh sage grew all around the climbing areas filling the air with a refreshing and calming scent. The first day we were there, the sun was blaring and even though it was only 55 degrees out, the warmth reflected from the rocks was absolutely perfect. We weren’t as lucky the second day and found that overcast skies and 50 degree temperatures are not as enjoyable to rock climb in (at least for me and my Florida blood). Either way, we had an amazing time climbing, sleeping under the stars and just spending time in the good old outdoors.
Hey that’s me!! 🙂
