October 29, 2018
My October has been filled with such a variety of photography events – a stark contrast to my wedding filled summer. And I’m definitely not mad about it. My spirit has been renewed with travel, variety and documenting authentic moments that leave me emotional and fulfilled while capturing these moments.
The Ryan family were our first friends in Washington. They had us over for Thanksgiving the first week we arrived here and little did I know, they would become a bit part of my life. I’ve had the pleasure of having them in both my personal and professional life as they’ve become family to me all while also allowing me to continuously capture their family and milestones. Caden, their sweet boy, will always have a special place in my heart as I got to watch him grow from conception, capture his birth and facetime with him regularly. Laura not only being a dear friend, has also played a huge role in my business and actually works behind the scenes for MMP constantly keeping me on track!
The military lifestyle is what brought us originally together and as much as I’m sad to see them leave Washington, we had a few extra unexpected years together here that I am so thankful for! It only seemed fitting that I got to capture Dan’s Fini Flight (a time-honored military aviation tradition marking the last flight of an aircrew member’s time with a unit). It was the perfect farewell to our beautiful state with the mountain standing vibrant off in the distance. I have to admit, I felt unexpectedly emotional but confident that our paths will keep crossing throughout the years to come! Thank you Dan, Laura and Caden for opening up your home that Thanksgiving and letting me into your lives!
Caden, ready to marshall his dad back from his fini-flight!
It’s tradition for family and fellow service members to spray down the pilot when they come down the stairs. I was pretty stoked about it. 😉
The squadron has a tradition of doing “Thirsty Thursday” where they come together and do hail and farewell’s and this was Dan’s farewell.
the 7th are the swords…so fitting for Caden to have one!
