Since shifting my business a few years ago to primarily photographing PNW elopements and intimate weddings, I haven’t photographed as many engagement sessions. Traditionally, couples choosing to elope forego an engagement session. However, when local or able to travel, I recommend still having an engagement session even if you’re eloping- for a few reasons!
Despite how far technology has come and being able to Facetime or have a Google Hangout before your elopement, it’s just not the same as meeting in person. Having an engagement session allows me to not only get to know you, but see how you interact as a couple. And in doing so, I can craft an experience for you on your elopement day that is even more tailored to you, your personalities, and your love story.
For a lot of couples, their elopement is the first time they will have ever had professional portraits. So on a day where you’re already maybe a little nervous, having the opportunity to have your photo taken during an engagement session can help settle those nerves. It also gives you a chance to see how I work, the cues I give, and help break down any barriers that may be there when it comes to having your photo taken.
Your engagement is worth celebrating! I am a big fan of documenting life’s biggest moments and that includes your engagement- no matter how short or long it may be. Forget about planning for a day and just be together. I promise, we’ll have fun and it will be 1000% worth it!
That’s exactly what Alex and Anna did and you’ll see a bit of their PNW engagement session in North Bend below. You cannot look at them and not smile. These two radiate joy and you can feel the love they have for each other. In addition to all of the love and laughter, their engagement session was a sweet reminder (and inspiration for this blog post!) of why these sessions are so important. I cannot wait for their destination elopement this summer in Italy!
If you’re ready to start planning your engagement session, reach out. Whether it’s finding a beautiful field with mountains in the background or a hiking adventure, I’d love to celebrate your engagement with you. Reach out and let’s chat!
Welcome to the blog! I’m a small-town Florida girl and Army wife relocated to the Seattle Suburbs, documenting love from one coast to the other. I live for a good PNW mountain breeze, sweat pants, and local eats. Let's be friends!
