As much as I love Pinterest for organizing inspiration and ideas, I can’t stand the fact that it’s drawing attention away from couples wanting photos that are genuinely them. We all love pretty photos, but your session should be all about the genuine you. Who you are as a person, couple or family. That’s what’s important and what will truly make you fall in love with your photos. So how do you plan a session that’ll bring out who you genuinely are?

First, choose a location that’s true to what you love. Don’t be afraid to interact in ways that are natural and comfortable. You can’t do anything wrong if you’re just being you!

Incorporating your passions into your shoot is a perfect example on making it authentic and all about you! Love coffee? Why not have your shoot at your favorite coffee shop like these two below? Love to kayak? Great, me too! I’ll follow you around and get some awesome lifestyle photos while we have an adventure. Love to snuggle up on the couch with your partner? How about an in home or studio lifestyle session?
